Pretty sneaky, Pete

A couple months ago I asked you, my adoring readership, to suggest some great albums that feature the pedal steel guitar. Despite your overwhelming deluge of suggestions, I have begun to look into the work of an artist none of you mentioned: "Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, the forgotten legend who played with the Flying Burrito Brothers as well as about 500 other bands and artists.

It turns out that Mr. Kleinow has a second career -- as a visual effects artist.

I am not shitting you.

Sources report that this photograph may not have been taken on a beach. Other sources report that the words "Sneaky Pete Kleinow" may not have been floating above Mr. Kleinow's head at the time.

Such is the power of "Sneaky" Pete's visual effects wizardry.

His website informs us that he's had these "TWO overlapping careers" for three and a half decades. I wondered why, then, was I totally unaware of one of those careers until now?

Then the answer came to me: Pete is just that sneaky.
