Energy needs soda

Mountain Dew is marketing their new energy drink, the taurine-spiked "Mountain Dew MDX," with the tagline "Energy needs soda."

This is the latest example of the time-honored advertising tactic known as the "outright lie."

It's also slightly counter-intuitive. It implies, I think, that you need to already possess energy before you will feel the need to have soda. A more logical albeit wordy tagline to my robot brain would be: "Energy is born from soda."
